Jackie Blue (Song) Information

"Jackie Blue" is a single by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils off their 1974 album It'll Shine When It Shines. The song reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975. The song was sung by group drummer Larry Lee, in a high register, which made some fans think that the song was sung by a woman. The song was about a girl, which originally was supposed to be about drugs, but that was downplayed.

The version appearing on the album has a running time of 4:11, while the single was edited at 3:16 with an erroneous time of 3:38. The version that appears on many recent CD hit compilations is the actual 3:38 edit. In the edit, the fourth verse, and the third bridge were omitted.

It was recorded by The Smashing Pumpkins in 1991 as part of the Gish recording and was later released on the compilation 20 Explosive Dynamic Super Smash Hit Explosions!

In 2011, AM and Shawn Lee recorded a cover of "Jackie Blue" for their 2011 album Celestial Electric.[1]
